The crew of the merchant ship Demeter attempts to survive the ocean voyage from Carpathia to London as they are stalked each night by a merciless presence onboard the ship.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter is the new movie from director Andre Overdal who brought us Troll Hunter and The Autopsy of Jane Doe. This flick is about the voyage of Dracula on the Demeter boat. The production is pretty decent as you can really feel the old Victorian Londonesque vibe. The specials effects are decent enough and are not distracting throughout the movie. As of the performances, they are good at best. Cory Hawkins and Aisling Franciosi gives good performances as the male and female lead. The story is mostly on the ship as you witness the horror of this voyage. The Last Voyage of the Demeter as good production and decent performances that will pick the curiosity of horror fans.
Unfortunately, The Last Voyage of the Demeter is a bore fest of a movie. The story doesn’t bring any excitement or intrigue. There is practically no character development as you know nothing about this vampire on board. The creature design for Dracula is so uninteresting it’s sad. You are on this boat for most of the movie, and it drags forever. Even the kills are not creative at all. They are some gore, yes, but nothing terrifying. The dialogues are simple, and the music is mostly absent. This is not a movie I will watch again, I do not recommend.
