Synopsis

A listless Wade Wilson toils away in civilian life with his days as the morally flexible mercenary, Deadpool, behind him. But when his homeworld faces an existential threat, Wade must reluctantly suit-up again with an even more reluctant Wolverine.

The Good

Deadpool is back, but this time he’s in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Let me remind everyone that The Deadpool franchise was owned by 20th Century Fox. As of 2017, the Fox studio became the property of Disney and can finally use this character as well as X-Men and much more. So in 2024, we got a new Deadpool movie under the Disney banner. Let’s just say that Ryan Reynolds didn’t lose his touch for this character. His quick wits and unhinged humour still works and brings up the entertainment factor in this movie. Let’s not forget that now he is joined by Wolverine himself, Hugh Jackman. This movie has crazy action, good humour and some heartfelt moments. I really enjoyed this movie because it brings you back to Marvel good old days. It doesn’t try to pass any social or political message. It’s just plain violence and raunchy jokes. Reynolds and Jackman have crazy chemistry in this film. You can tell they have a great friendship. The pacing is also great, not one single moment is boring. The 3 acts are entertaining and keeps you engaged. Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is as usual great to watch. Lots of gore and an unforgettable opening credits scene. Deadpool & Wolverine is everything you want in a summer Blockbuster. It’s a movie that needs multiple viewing for sure. It’s a must-watch.

  • Great music.
  • Good humour.
  • Good action.
  • Great surprises.
  • Good multi-viewing factor.
  • Entertaining.

The Bad

The action and the comedy doesn’t hide the fact that the story is quite thin. We don’t really feel the urgency of the situation. So basically, we are just watching some cut scenes of Deadpool and Wolverine. Emma Corrin plays the villain is this film but doesn’t feel like the main villain. She gives a good performance, but her character is overshadowed by the huge amount of cameos. I don’t think her character will be remembered the most by fans. Also, the set in the second act felt a little cheap. It’s a dystopian-ish desert set with not many interesting elements.

  • Thin story.
  • Forgettable villain.
  • Desert set could be better.
