An epic fantasy adventure based on the timeless Arthurian legend, The Green Knight tells the story of Sir Gawain, King Arthur's reckless and headstrong nephew, who embarks on a daring quest to confront the eponymous Green Knight, a gigantic emerald-skinned stranger and tester of men.
The Green Knight is a very particular movie. It’s a fantasy movie that doesn’t feel like fantasy. This Arthurian tale stays grounded without going over the top with weirdness. It manages to keep a dose of realism even though it’s clearly a mythical story with fantasy aspects. The superb sceneries and visuals will have you awe throughout the entire movie. David Lowery’s direction is excellent, and I must say it is his best movie yet. The production is spectacular, and the acting is great overall. Dev Patel amaze me because he puts so much passion in his performances. An underrated actor who should get more roles in Hollywood. In the end, The Green Knight is a very bold film that will please fans of art style movies.
There are some things that bothered me in this movie. First, the length is way too long. You can get bored easily. Also, some aspects need more elaboration because you are a bit confused about everything even after 2 hours in the story. Finally, the trailer revealed too much. Nothing in the film surprised me because I saw it already. They should cut out the best parts from trailers. Maybe Hollywood doesn’t care any more, I guess…
