Synopsis

A brilliant counterterrorism analyst with a deep distrust of AI discovers it might be her only hope when a mission to capture a renegade robot goes awry.

The Good

Jennifer Lopez is the heroine in this new Netflix Sci-fi movie named Atlas. Miss Lopez plays this analyst that accidentally end up controlling this AI war machine to help save humanity. The premise is pretty simple, evil robots wants to take over the world, but J-Lo is there to stop them. Let’s start with special effects, they are incredibly well done. The robot and sci-fi techs are well rendered and believable. So kudos for the VFX team. Casting is decent enough. Simu Liu is incredible as a villain. You can tell he enjoys every minute of it. This movie contains plenty of action that will keep you engaged throughout the whole runtime. It is very entertaining and should please anyone who likes science fiction adventure. Atlas delivers in action and entertainment. It is a good watch for what it offers. Watch it if nothing else is available.

  • Great VFX.
  • Good villain.
  • Good action.

The Bad

The story is where things fall apart. It is too simple. Nothing intriguing really comes out of it. You’re not really invested in anything because the world building is not present. The AI robot is too smart. It is practically another human character, and Lopez is only there to make conversation with it. The acting is average at best. Only Simu Liu was an interesting character. Atlas is a predictable story with predictable characters. Nothing original here. This movie is just eye candy with no substance to build a franchise.

  • No substance or intrigue.
  • Average acting.
  • Predictable.
  • No world building.
