Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
Black Adam is the newest superhero in the DC universe, if there is still a DCEU. Dwayne The Rock Johnson is the main lead for this feature film. This character in the comics is more of a villain, but this time he is more of an anti-hero. There is something that we can’t take away from DC movies is the action. Plenty of action sequences in this movie. Explosions, lightning, combat, Jets, you name it they have it. The movie is anything but boring. Dwayne Johnson is perfect as Black Adam. He brings a ruthless attitude to this character and doesn’t shy away when it comes to killing people. The stand-out is Pierce Brosnan’s Dr Fate. The VFX for his powers are very well rendered. Brosnan adds so much charisma to this character. He steals the show every time he’s on-screen. The casting in general have great chemistry. Black Adam is a great time at the movies. Great action and spectacular VFX.
Black Adam is messy. The plot is so confusing, you just don’t even care by the end of the movie. There are so many actions sequences and things going on that you are a bit lost on what the hell is going on. It may be a good thing for some, but for me, I was a little bit overwhelmed by the amount of lightning, explosions and fighting. The soundtrack is so forgettable, nothing as a big impact. The villain is also mediocre. For a hero as big as Black Adam, the villain should have been huge. This guy only appears 20 minutes before the end. One other thing is that Hawkman’s outfit is so ridiculous. I can’t stop laughing every time we see him in full costume. This is the kind of thing where it’s much better in the comics than in live action. Hope they change it if a sequel is green lit. Black Adam is not a bad movie, but I was expecting more out of it.
