Synopsis

Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.

The Good

Black Panther is finally here. After the tragic sudden death of Chadwick Boseman, this movie was long awaited. We wanted to see how things would go after they announced that T’Challa wouldn’t be recast. Well, the wait is over, and I can say it’s a beautiful homage to Mr. Boseman. There are so many emotions throughout the whole movie. You feel the sadness and the grief of each character. The cast is excellent, especially Angela Bassett, who gives an Oscar worthy performance. Another great performance is Tenoch Huerta as Nomar. His presence steals the spotlight every time he’s on-screen. I hope we see him in other Marvel projects. As of the VFX, they are very good, much better than the first one. The soundtrack is amazing as usual. The direction is excellent, Ryan Coogler is mastering is directing for big blockbuster films. Black Panther Wakanda Forever is a movie I recommend. It puts closure not only to phase 4 but also to Chadwick Boseman’s unforgettable depiction of the King of Wakanda. See it.

  • Good homage to Chadwick.
  • Great performance from cast.
  • Angela Bassett & Tenoch Huerta are standouts.
  • VFX are better than first movie.
  • Great Soundtrack.

The Bad

Unfortunately, Black Panther Wakanda Forever is missing a dominant lead protagonist. The absence of Chadwick Boseman is felt throughout the entire movie, and they never really manage to replace that presence conveniently. The new Black Panther is alright, but doesn’t bring the charisma or strength this movie needs. Some characters, who had bigger roles in the previous film, are left aside for no reason. Also, the introduction of Riri Williams played by Dominique Thorne is a little Mary Sue. She mastered the Iron Man Tech so fast and with no difficulty whatsoever. All of those points makes the repeat value very low for me. I saw it once, and I’m not interested to see it again. It’s a good movie, but I was expecting more.

  • Missing a strong, charismatic lead.
  • Good characters from the first film have little screen time.
  • Riri Williams character introduction is too fast.
  • Low repeat viewing.
