Two low-level astronomers must go on a giant media tour to warn humankind of an approaching comet that will destroy planet Earth.
Don’t Look Up is the newest movie from director Adam Mckay, known for his work on The Big Short and Vice. With a start studded cast, this movie is a satire look on media. Adam Mckay manage to bring in a humorist way, how the media can blind you from reality. Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence are the leads in this comedy noir. Both actors give good performances and are supported with an assembly of award-winning actors. Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett and Mark Rylance are among the talent. The plot is pretty much straight forward and will keep you interested until the end. I laughed a few times, and I was surprised on how much funny this movie was. Don’t Look Up is a good entertainment. With good laughs and an impressive cast, this movie is worth seeing.
On the other hand, this cast maybe too talented for this kind of movie. The script doesn’t provide enough materials for them to shine. Only Leonardo DiCaprio as enough elements to show his acting chops. I feel like this movie would’ve been better if it wasn’t a comedy. If, instead, it was a serious disaster movie with a lot of drama. So much talent is wasted on ridiculous characters. The story gets repetitive after a while and is a little too long. The final scene was unnecessary in my opinion. Also, Mark Rylance is practically doing the same character as he did in Ready Player One. Don’t Look Up is an average movie, but a cast like that for a comedy is pointless.
