Synopsis

Nothing is what it seems when a twisted one-night stand spirals into a serial killer’s vicious murder spree.

The Good

I didn’t know anything about director JT Mollner before this flick. I can tell you now, he will be a familiar name in upcoming years. He did a spectacular job with this movie. Strange Darling is just awesome in every way. This is a very clever movie with strong inspirations to the Tarantino style. The characters are very well fleshed out and are captivating. Actress Willa Fitzgerald gives an incredible performance and should be considered for an Oscar in my opinion. The whole cast is great in general. The story is told in 6 chapters, not in order, similar to kill Bill. You are constantly on the edge of your seat and curious on what’s happening next. The action and intrigue are perfectly paced. The dialogue is smart and very well written. Cinematography and screenplay are well done. Very strong score used smartly in key moments. Strange Darling is the surprise of the year in my opinion. It is a near perfect movie. I strongly recommend.

  • Excellent story.
  • Great characters.
  • Great cinematography.
  • Good dialogue.
  • Great pacing.
  • Spectacular performance by Willa Fitzgerald.
  • Entertaining.

The Bad

It feels almost as if Quentin Tarantino himself did this movie. Some scenes sometimes feels like it’s copying Tarantino movies instead of using those inspirations to create something original.

  • Too similar to Tarantino.
