Synopsis

Sinister characters converge around a young man devoted to protecting those he loves in a postwar backwoods town teeming with corruption and brutality.

The Good

I rarely seen this much talent in a single feature and especially in a Netflix movie. Maybe the Irishman is the exception but The Devil All The Time is very good movie. It’s captivating despite all the negative things happening in the story. The strong point is the casting for sure. Everybody gives a solid performance. Bill Skarsgard and Sebastian Stan are the stand outs. The others are great also, but these two are just superb in their respective roles. You immediately convince that they are the characters. The production is very good also. Cinematography is well done. You really feel that you are in the 1960s. I haven’t read the novel, but I can say that Antonio Campos did a great job rendering this story. The Devil All The Time is a sad story with some hard to watch moments but very intriguing. I recommend

  • Great cast.
  • Great performances.
  • Good production.
  • Very intriguing story.

The Bad

Even with a tremendous cast, there are some negatives aspects in this movie. The story is very good but some characters needed more time to explain their motivations. You just don’t understand why they are so evil. Sometimes it’s feels that the evil is just there for the story and it’s not brought organically. It feels like there is no hope for good things to happen. So after a while, you expect things to end up badly.

  • More time in character development.
  • Predictable.
