Synopsis

A group of vigilantes known informally as “The Boys” set out to take down corrupt superheroes with no more than blue-collar grit and a willingness to fight dirty.

The Good

The Boys is a brand-new show from Amazon Prime. I was pleasantly surprised on how this show brings new life to the superhero genre. It is a perfect mix of realism and fiction. Base on the comic book of the same name, The Boys doesn’t shy away from violence and gore. It has plenty of action and funny moments. The casting is excellent, especially Karl Urban and Antony Starr who gives memorable performances. Elisabeth Shue is also remarkable in her role. The story is well crafted and keeps you wanting more. Special effects are pretty good even for a first season. The Boys is definitely a hit and is the superhero show we were waiting for.

  • Very entertaining.
  • Great action.
  • Great story.
  • Good effects.
  • Good performances.
  • Great cast.

The Bad

Some unnecessary over the top violence. Also pacing could be better.

  • Extreme violence.
  • Pacing.

The Good

Season 2 of The Boys continues where it left off but adds a couple of new characters. Those new characters are well implemented to the story. Stormfront played by Aya Cash is a great addition in the cast and has amazing presence on screen. Giancarlo Esposito’s character is intriguing as the CEO of Vought. Antony Starr has Homelander is perfect as always and Karl Urban still brings the grit. Action is great and the special effects are even better. More screen time is given to Starlight, Queen Maeve and Kimiko which was needed. The Boys season 2 is a great watch and feels like it won’t slow down anytime soon.

  • Good additions to cast.
  • Great performances.
  • Great action.

The Bad

The storylines for The Deep and A-Train could’ve been way better. It seems like they don’t know what to do with those characters, especially The Deep. He’s been hanging around for almost 2 seasons now. Also, the Stormfront storyline should’ve been way longer, like at least 2 seasons. Her backstory is fascinating and rich. I feel this character was wasted too fast. We need more things to happen around the world, in my opinion. I feel like everything is happening only in this little town. They should do a little more world building. Seeing them in action in other countries against super-terrorist, just like in episode 3.

  • Not much story development for The Deep and A-Train.
  • Stormfront character wasted.
  • Not enough world building.
