Kate Pierce is reluctantly spending Christmas with her mom’s new boyfriend and his son Jack. But when the North Pole and Christmas are threatened to be destroyed, Kate and Jack are unexpectedly pulled into a new adventure with Santa Claus.
The sequel to Netflix 2018 hit has finally arrived. Kurt Russell impersonate Santa Claus once again but this time he is followed with Mrs. Claus played by his real life wife Goldie Hawn. This sequel brings as much fun as the prequel version. The performances are pretty decent, Kurt Russell is always great as Santa Claus. Goldie Hawn fits very well into Mrs. Claus shoes. The kids are adorable as always. Julian Dennison is ok as the evil dwarf. I’m happy he gets more work because he’s a good talent and was great in Taika Waititi’s The Hunt For The Wilderpeople. The story is joyful with plenty of actions. The production is better than the first movie, and it shows. Santa Claus village is very well constructed. The Christmas Chronicles 2 is a good watch and will certainly entertain families.
The addition of Tyrese Gibson was a mistake. He doesn’t fit at all in this movie. You can feel he is uncomfortable playing the character. Also, this sequel doesn’t have the same charm and magic the first movie had. Some scenes seem forced and are unnecessary. It’s practically a copy/paste of the first movie but with new characters. And finally, the runtime could’ve been a little shorter.
