An imaginary world comes to life in a holiday tale of an eccentric toymaker, his adventurous granddaughter, and a magical invention that has the power to change their lives forever.
I have to say that Jingle Jangle is what we needed right now after passing through a difficult year. It’s everything we hope for, good songs, good acting and some Christmas spirit. Forest Whitaker gives a great performance as this toy maker who lost his magic touch. The production is what struck me the most. The costume designs are very well-made and doesn’t have that cheap vibe. The sets are well done and the special effects are excellent. The all around cast is good also and the performances are convincing. It’s very refreshing to see an all-black cast for a Christmas movie. I thought they did an excellent job capturing Black/African culture with music and dance choreography. I’m not the biggest fan of musicals but this one is one of the best. The story is intriguing, the songs are catchy, and I was pleasantly surprise by Forest Whitaker singing ability. Jingle Jangle is the perfect movie to watch this holiday. It will bring you joy and have you smile at the end.
The Toreador toy puppet (Don Juan) voiced by Ricky Martin was very annoying and didn’t create anything important to the story. Basically, it was just there for comic relief.
