Doctor Strange, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.
Sam Raimi is back directing a Marvel movie with the second installment of Doctor Strange. This time Elizabeth Olsen joins the cast. Marvel as been holding back in the Horror genre, but this movie proves the opposite. Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness is a cool ride in the horror genre. Director Raimi manages to balance comedy, action and horror perfectly. Some scenes remind us of Raimi’s famous franchise Evil Dead. They really pushed the PG-13 rating on this one. Some moments are really haunting, and we get some gore. The highlight of the movie is by far Elizabeth Olsen. She brings so much depth and emotions to this movie. Performances in general are excellent. Production is top-notch as usual. Danny Elfman soundtrack is reminiscing the 90s in a good way. Doctor Strange 2 is a great introduction to the horror genre, and I hope Marvel will continue in that route.
Besides all the good stuff about this movie, the story is where things are not great. Multiverse is in the title of the movie, and we don’t get a lot of that. The main plot of the movie doesn’t focus on the multiverse aspect. This movie gave the idea that it was a game changer in the MCU storyline. I’m sorry to say that it doesn’t. Doctor Strange 2 is great entertainment, but it’s just another chapter in the Doctor Strange franchise. Also, I thought the music fight scene between was ridiculous. Don’t know who wrote this, but it could’ve been way better. Those characters are sorcerers and that’s the best things they could come up with ? In the end, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness didn’t reach my expectations in the storyline aspect.
