On Part 2, we will discuss my picks for the rest of the team. These characters will be the moneymakers and fan favorites of the franchise. We have to carefully choose actors that can shine on screen.
Michaela Coel is red-hot right now. We can see her in a multitude of series recently. She’s confident and intimidating which are two qualities needed to be Storm. Let’s not forget that Storm is second in command after Cyclops in the X-Men. Michaela Coel would no doubt be a great addition in the Marvel Family.
The most popular character in the X-Men. Zac Efron would be my pick because his physique, height and intensity are spot on similar to Wolverine’s. He is perfect to play the rugged Canadian with adamantium claws. Zac Efron is a pretty decent actor and I think making some action flicks would do good for his career.
We know her as Betty in Riverdale but Lili Reinhart is still looking for her breakthrough role. I think Rogue might be it. She has great presence on screen, and she can deliver on emotions. Let’s just see how she can handle herself in a superhero movie.
Ok, this is where diversity comes in. Gambit isn’t black I know, but nothing in the character origins prevent us from changing his ethnicity. That’s why I think we could add some changes to Gambit, just like they did to the Human Torch in Fant4stic Four by casting Michael B. Jordan. Also, most importantly, Lakeith Stanfield is an excellent actor. He can bring the swag and coolness of Gambit and also the nuances of his troubled past. A new take on this character could make him a franchise favorite and steal the show.
From the hit Netflix show Casa De Papel (Money Heist), Úrsula Corberó is by far the most intriguing character. Her talent in acting is undeniably good. Her charisma is superb. No doubt she would rock as Psylocke in the MCU X-Men. This character is constantly juggling between good and evil so it’s obvious to see her portraying this conflicted X-Men.
Previously played by Ellen Page, Kitty Pryde isn’t the most known X-Men. It is the same story when it comes to Esme Creed Miles. Coming from her hit show Hanna, she would play this role greatly mainly because of her mysterious vibe. Her innocent look fits well with the character’s attitude.
She already played Jubilee in X-Men : Apocalypse but didn’t have a lot of screen time. I think we can make an exception and put her in the same role in a new movie. It was a perfect choice back then so why not keep her. She has the same height, age and the nerdy side of Jubilee just like in the comics. Can’t see why it can’t work again.
For Colossus, we need an actor with a great physique. Jai Courtney fits that category and has experience in action movies. Yes I know, he’s already Captain Boomerang in Suicide Squad but maybe DC would let him do a Marvel movie. He will probably be in CGI when using his mutant power but in human form this actor will do the job for sure.
Mena Massoud would be an easy choice because he is already in the Disney Family. He played Aladdin alongside Will Smith in the 2019 remake. We haven’t seen him often after Aladdin so being Nightcrawler would give a new start to his career. He has that nice guy vibe and a slim physique which is exactly what we want in this character.
