Synopsis

Fed up with being single on holidays, two strangers agree to be each other's platonic plus-ones all year long, only to catch real feelings along the way.

The Good

Holidate is the newest Netflix holiday movie starring Emma Roberts. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Emma Roberts in a romantic comedy. Holidate is everything about that. It is similar to almost every romantic comedy out there. So, if this is your kind of movie, then you will not be disappointed. Simple, silly and can be refreshing especially after a month of October filled with horror movies.

  • Simple.
  • Romantic.

The Bad

Where do I start? I mean this movie is just a train wreck. It is filled with clichés and stereotypes. Emma Roberts does her best to keep this movie interesting. Let’s start with the story which is very predictable from the start. Luke Bracey’s character is just incredible but in a bad way. You don’t learn anything from his character. He’s just hanging around the mall for no reason what so ever. Also, the humor is cringy sometimes. The sex jokes and the horny aunt doesn’t really fit in this Christmas-ish movie. Besides, this feature is so obviously woke. At least one of each nationality is represented in the film. There’s nothing wrong with that, but I think it was too much on the nose. The production is very average and feels cheap sometimes. Holidate doesn’t make any sense in any way and you should definitely skip it.

  • Very predictable.
  • Horrible story.
  • No character development.
  • Cringy sex jokes.
  • Very woke.
  • Feels cheap.
