During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, embarks on a crucial mission to confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.
Finally, we are getting a backstory for Obi-Wan Kenobi, one of the most famous Jedi in the Star Wars universe. Ewan McGregor is back as the main character. Hayden Christensen reprise also his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. This series manage to capture the nostalgia from the prequel movies. It also introduces new characters to the Star Wars lore and some familiar ones. McGregor doesn’t disappoint, he gives a stellar performance, as only him can do. He is so good to demonstrate the struggle and remorse of the titular character throughout this limited series. The actress playing young Leia is also a stand-out. She portrays brilliantly the famous princess. Obi-Wan Kenobi will make you miss the prequel movies and will have you wanting more.
Ok now let’s rant about a bunch of stuff. This series is called Obi-Wan Kenobi for a reason. I don’t understand why most of this series is focused on other characters. This should’ve been a show about Kenobi’s grief and preparation to face Vader once again, that’s it! Instead, we get some uninteresting side plot from characters we don’t care about. The story is convoluted and damages the lore of Star Wars. It seems like they didn’t know what they were doing. The writing could’ve been way better. They barely give what we want in the final episode. I feel like it’s The Last Jedi all over again. Am I the only one who thinks that the force is now depicted like a mutant power ? Every force users seem overpowered and can lift any object and throw whatever anywhere. The lightsabers seem like glowing sticks and not laser swords. They manage to introduce the Inquisitors, which was great, but barely used them at all, especially the Grand Inquisitor. Yes, I’m nitpicking, but those little details makes a big difference when judging if it’s good or Great. I don’t think anybody at Disney, except Favreau and Filoni, understands Star Wars. How can you give the most anticipated show to a director that doesn’t know this character as good as Favreau/Filoni? This duo should run Star Wars in my opinion. A change of vision is needed because those in charge right now doesn’t have a clue on what they’re doing.
