Casting the MCU X-Men Part 3 – The Villains

Share

On Part 3, we have the villains. They will play a huge part in the X-Men storylines, so we have to get actors that will masterfully bring the hatred on screen. Your superheroes are only as good as your villains.

MAGNETO (Erik Lehnsherr)

My pick : Matthew McConaughey

Similar to Charles Xavier, Magneto needs to be played by a well-known experience actor. He is the main antagonist of the X-Men. Matthew McConaughey would absolutely nail this role. He has the charisma, the intensity and the physique to portray perfectly the Master of Magnetism. Having an Academy Award winner would bring more credibility to the franchise. Make it happen Marvel!

APOCALYPSE (En Sabah Nur)

My pick : Laurence Fishburne (Voice & Motion Capture)

Just like Thanos, Apocalypse will be a complete CGI character. Who else but Laurence Fishburne to play this iconic villain. He has the deep voice and the presence on screen to make this character as real as possible.

MYSTIQUE (Raven Darkholme)

My pick : Sofia Boutella

Sofia Boutella has an impressive resume in playing villains. She was The Mummy in the reboot movie and also Gazelle in Kingsman. That’s why, I think she fits perfectly for Mystique. Her charm and ability to perform in action sequences would be great for this role. She has good acting range and would be a great villain for the X-Men.

THE WHITE QUEEN (Emma Frost)

My pick : Samara Weaving

Samara Weaving is an upcoming talent in Hollywood. She’s been in several good projects like Ready Or Not and The Babysitter on Netflix. I see her becoming Emma Frost because this character needs to be seductive and menacing at the same time. Her looks portray those qualities and her acting can really bring more to the table. She can definitely do better than January Jones in X-Men First Class.

MR. SINISTER (Nathaniel Essex)

My pick : Tom Ellis

Mr. Sinister in one of the few X-Men villains we haven’t seen yet on the big screen. The Essex Corporation was briefly mention in X-Men Apocalypse but nothing else. This character needs to be introduced in a big way. I see Tom Ellis in this role because, besides Lucifer, we haven’t seen him in anything else. Playing Sinister would be challenging for him, but I’m confident he has the tools to depict the mad scientist accurately.

SABRETOOTH (Victor Creed)

My pick : Alexander Ludwig

Wolverine’s old friend and worst enemy, Sabretooth is a must-have villain in the MCU. Victor Creed is a savage, egocentric and very sadistic mutant. Alexander Ludwig would be my choice for the role. He did great in the show Vikings, so this role wouldn’t be that different. No doubt Ludwig will do the job and bring on the carnage for us to enjoy.

GRAYDON CREED

My pick : Will Poulter

The human son of Victor Creed and leader of the FOH (Friends Of Humanity), Graydon Creed can be the annoying villain we all love to hate. Will Poulter is so good at portraying annoying characters, he would easily fit in the role. Also, he’s a very talented actor for his young age. I can see him giving a lot of trouble for the X-Men in some sort of discrimination against mutants storyline.

JUGGERNAUT (Cain Marko)

My pick : Andrew Lincoln

Similar to Deadpool 2, Juggernaut will be in CGI but, in human form, he can be performed by Andrew Lincoln. He is very good at displaying frustration, envy and anger. Exactly what Cain Marko displays against his brother-in-law Charles Xavier. Lincoln took a break after his exit of The Walking Dead. A fresh new direction in his career and taking a small role in the MCU would be a good start.
