Synopsis

Still irrevocably scarred by the trauma he endured as a child at the Overlook, Dan Torrance has fought to find some semblance of peace. But that peace is shattered when he encounters Abra, a courageous teenager with her own powerful extrasensory gift, known as the 'shine'. Instinctively recognising that Dan shares her power, Abra has sought him out, desperate for his help against the merciless Rose the Hat and her followers.

The Good

Doctor Sleep is the sequel of the cult horror classic the shining. I have to say that i was skeptical when i heard they were going to make it. The Shining is by far one of the greatest achievement in horror cinema. I was surprised, this movie offers a decent part 2 of The Shining. It doesn’t go too far neither too little. Ewan McGregor is as usual good in the title role. Story is interesting and the concept of shining is better explained in this than the original movie. Good watch.

  • Good sequel from the original.
  • Good performance from Ewan McGregor.
  • Shining concept is well explained.

The Bad

On the bad side, there’s not enough time to flesh out the whole story from the book. Some backstories are not enough explained. I wanted to know more about Rebecca Ferguson’s character. Some scenes are recreated right from the original movie, so it’s lazy writing in my opinion. Also, the little girl was lacking charisma. I couldn’t care less about her fate.

  • Characters development.
  • Some lazy writing.
  • Performance from child actor could be better.
