James Wan is back with a brand-new movie. This time it’s a horror slasher genre. Malignant was a big surprise for me. I didn’t expect much from this movie, but it all came out very good. This film is an homage to old B movies and slashers in the 80s, like Friday the 13th. It also has a distinctive Sam Raimi Evil Dead vibe. The production is excellent and purposely made to be ridiculous. The dialogue is so laughably corny. The story is simple but will have you guess until the end. Malignant is very gory, plenty of action and humour. It’s a perfect Halloween movie to group watch. I recommend.
Malignant is great but isn’t that scary. It is more of a thriller than a horror movie. It may have a little too much action and not enough horror elements. Also, some people might be turned off by the ridiculousness. It’s a decisive movie. It can be awesome for some or terrible for others.
